In doing my 20 challenges in 2014 there was always going to be one that had excluded me - the marathon. I was feeling pretty fit back then and Sarah Callan suggested I enter the London ballot - no one gets a ballot place anyway she said. Well this one did! So in 13 weeks time I'll be joining the masses to pound the streets of London to cover those iconic 26.2 miles over Tower Bridge, around Canary Wharf, along the Embankment and up the Mall!
Given how ill I was at the end of last year I didn't want to go public with my next challenge until I'd got the medical all clear - hooray I'm good to run! I really am starting from a base of zero fitness given that a walk to Sainsbury's knackered me out in November, to attempt this I must be nuts. But the opportunity to run London is once in a lifetime!
Although I got my place in the ballot I'm going to run in memory of my mum Jenny for Breast Cancer Now - a new charity that is made up of Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Breast Cancer Campaign. They have consolidated their efforts to fund most of the UK's breast cancer research with the aim of stopping women dying from breast cancer by 2050. That is something I am proud to get behind!
